The history of Monastery

The history of Quy Hoi Tinh Nguoi Zen Monastery began with the achievement of a plot of land in Deeral, Cairns in 1998, and the first steps in establishing the Vo Vi organization in Australia. Under the guidance of Master Luong, the land was transferred and organized as Vo Vi International Pty. Ltd. and the Vo Vi Charitable Trust (VCT) was established, laying the foundation for the development of the community through the Dharma of Vo Vi Mystical Science of Buddhism. At the same time, fundraising activities and intellectual property protection were implemented, although there were many difficulties in the process of construction and management.

Through many changes, including the passing of Master Luong Si Hang and Mr. Le Tan Quoc, the leadership and trusteeship roles changed many times, leading to legal disputes over property and management rights. On March 15, 2024, the court clearly defined ownership, affirming that VVI is the sole trustee of the VOVI charitable Trust, thereby creating clarity and consistency in the management and use of assets.

Quy Hoi Tinh Nguoi Zen Monastery was officially inaugurated in 2014, marking a major turning point in the history of the organization. Despite experiencing challenges and lengthy lawsuits, the spirit of solidarity and loyalty to the principles of the Dharma of Non-Action have helped the organization overcome difficulties, maintaining its mission according to the 10 principles of spreading the value of the Dharma of Non-Action Zen through the Dharma of Non-Action, the Mysterious Science of Buddhism.

Master’s House

Master: I bought a few thousand mango trees there. It is peaceful, and I dig the land to grow potatoes for fun and health. If you have free time, stop by for a visit. Traveling from the U.S. takes about 3 hours, the same from Singapore, and also about 3 hours from Vietnam. It is a peaceful place—now that I am older, I focus on meditation for good health, and there is nothing complicated.

MC: Thank you, Master. As you all know, this is a meditation center that brings people together in Australia. After many years and challenges, our Master remains steadfast, preserving the faith. At last, the meditation center has been officially established. This shows that when the Master says to be determined in doing something, it will take shape. We vow to follow his example so that, in the future, our Vô Vi programs and projects will progress in a complete and fulfilling way. Everyone, let’s give our Master a big round of applause. Thank you, Master.

Master: Whatever you do, you must be decisive. I have established the principle that decisiveness leads to success. What I do is simple. I work in a peaceful and quiet place—a house with five rooms where fellow practitioners can visit. That day, a lake was built for healthy swimming.

MC: So, later, when we visit, it will be very enjoyable. It will surely be a great time with the Master.

Master: Of course, it will be fun! Once you visit, you won’t want to leave. Everyone who comes enjoys it so much that they want to stay forever. It is a refreshing place, with no rain, no strong winds, and no dangerous storms or floods.

MC: Perhaps, in the future, this place will become a Vô Vi village.

Master: If a Vô Vi village is to be built, it will be because fellow practitioners desire it. As for me, I simply have a house to live in. I am 84 years old this year and need a tranquil place to stay. Renovating and making the house more beautiful is not my concern. I am poor, and having a house is already a blessing. As long as fellow practitioners come with sincerity, that is enough.

MC: We sincerely thank you, Master, and appreciate the attention of all fellow practitioners.
